Füd privacy notice

This notice describes Füd 1.3 and the replacement Füd service operated by Ouro LLC. Earlier app versions may behave differently, as described below.

Your account and journal. Füd stores your account email and identifier, authentication information, food entries, saved recipes, nutrient goals and history so you can sign in and use your journal. Information you previously supplied to older profile or onboarding screens may remain with your account. Some account settings and tracking information are also cached on your device.

People you add. If you add someone to track, such as a child or partner, Füd stores the name and emoji you choose and that person's food entries and goals with your account. People you add have no sign-in of their own, and only your account can see them. Removing a person deletes their journal and goals; deleting your account deletes everyone you added. Only add people you care for or who have agreed, and enter no more than you need.

Sign-in and service providers. Füd uses Apple or Google sign-in, and that provider verifies your identity. Füd no longer offers email/password signup, password login, or password resets. Historical password hashes and expired reset records may remain with older accounts. The Füd API runs on Vercel and stores account and journal records in MongoDB Atlas. These providers process the information needed to provide the service.

Food lookup. Keyword searches are sent through the Füd API to FatSecret's U.S. food database. Barcode lookups are sent directly from your device to Open Food Facts without your Füd account token or account details. These services receive the lookup and the network information needed to handle it. Food-provider privacy information is available at https://foods.fatsecret.com/Default.aspx?l=en&pa=priv and https://world.openfoodfacts.org/privacy.

Describing a meal. Füd 1.3 can work out a meal you describe in your own words. The first time, Füd asks before using this. When you choose Work out this meal, the text you typed is sent through the Füd API to OpenAI, which lists the foods and estimates their amounts and nutrition; the Füd API then looks each food up with FatSecret. Only that text is sent to OpenAI: not your name, email, account identifier or the people you add. The Füd API does not save the text; only the foods you choose to add are saved to your journal. OpenAI processes the request under its API data terms, which keep API data for up to 30 days to monitor for abuse. OpenAI's privacy information is available at https://openai.com/policies/privacy-policy.

Sharing a recipe. In app versions that offer Share recipe, you can choose to create a share code. Anyone with the code and a Füd account can view the shared recipe and save an independent copy. Codes expire after seven days. The snapshot includes the recipe name, ingredients, serving count and nutrition; Füd does not attach your account identifier, email or journal dates. Deleting the original recipe or your account revokes its codes. Copies already saved by other people remain in their accounts.

Existing subscriptions. Apple and RevenueCat process subscription and purchase information. Füd uses your account identifier with RevenueCat to check existing entitlements and support subscription and family management. RevenueCat also uses purchase information for its subscription analytics. Personal tracking does not require a subscription or trial. Deleting your Füd account does not cancel an Apple subscription.

Support. If you contact support, your message and contact details are processed in the support mailbox and by its email provider. Füd does not send automated password-reset email. Support and hosting providers may retain email and operational records independently of your Füd account.

Website and operational records. Vercel and the other providers receive network information such as IP addresses, request paths and timestamps when serving requests. The support website includes no analytics or advertising scripts.

Earlier versions. Automatic AI insights and automatic emoji generation are disabled in Füd 1.1 and later and in the replacement API; describing a meal, above, only runs when you choose it. Earlier versions included features that could send food, goals or profile information to OpenAI through the earlier service. Earlier app versions also included AppsFlyer marketing attribution. In the existing configuration, AppsFlyer can process device identifiers, IP addresses and approximate location, app opens and sign-in events for analytics, service operation and advertising measurement. Active partner integrations include Meta ads, TikTok, Apple Ads and Reddit; Meta is configured to receive app-open and sign-in events, including organic activity, with advanced device-level data sharing enabled. This does not mean your food journal or nutrient goals are sent to those advertising partners. The AppsFlyer SDK is removed from Füd 1.1; partner integrations remain configured for earlier versions. Updating the app does not itself erase historical records held by those providers.

Deleting your data. Use Settings → Delete Account in Füd to remove the current account, the people you added, and its associated food entries, recipes, recipe details, recipe-share snapshots, nutrient goals and authentication-status records from the Füd database. This operation does not delete records independently held by Apple, RevenueCat, email or hosting providers, or any previously created manual copies. Their handling is subject to their own policies and applicable requirements.

Questions and requests. Use the contact details on Füd's Support page for questions about your account or this notice.

Withdrawn multi-user betas. Earlier family/profile betas have been withdrawn. Information supplied to those betas may remain associated with the account, including profile names, age, sex, optional height, weight and activity, food and nutrient goals, meal records, measurements and notes. These records are excluded from every journal, including those of people you add, and Füd 1.2 and later do not ask for these details. Settings → Delete Account removes associated retired-beta records from the Füd database along with the account; provider and operational records described above remain separate.
